I am providing the Pella windows on this house, but wanted to share construction using Porter SIP’s Panels. The builder is JPD Construction from Saugatuck . I’ve included a photo of the panels being installed on the roof and a shot of the view from the master bedroom.

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) consist of a foam core of rigid insulation laminated between two sheets of 7/16″ Oriented Strand Board (OSB) with an industrial adhesive to form one solid structural member.Other lamination faces are available, both structural and non structural.These SIP panel components serve as your exterior wall and roof systems to give you loading and spanning capabilities not found in ordinary construction.

The advantages of working with SIPs are primarily economical and environmental. SIPs can reduce a build time by 30-40%, save 30-40% in energy costs after completion, and are made with materials that have a lesser impact on the environment than some conventional building systems.

This home was built on Gun Lake in Western Michigan. The windows are Jeldwen vinyl and the siding is Crane in the clay color.

This is a project I am working on in Grand Junction, MI. The windows are Andersen 400 series in Sandstone color. The interesting thing about this job is that the interior is prefinished at the Andersen factory in Sandstone.

There are other products to mention on this project. The deck is by Timbertech with a Timbertech rail system. The back deck (not shown) gives the homeowner a view of the island in the middle of their own lake where the couple was married.

Today we ordered the interior trim package and I will be back to touch base on how that turns out in a few weeks.

This is a project I have going in Ravenna, Michigan. The home is being built by Galloway Custom Homes.

This is a new home I’m supplying in Norton Shores, Michigan. The siding on the front of the house is LP Smart siding panels. The color that is being used is Lighthouse red, which will match the Crane siding on the remaining parts of the house.

This house by Galloway Custom Homes will be in the Shoreline parade of homes Friday – Tuesday, September 12 – 16, & Thursday – Sunday 18 – 21, 2008. It was an awesome house to supply and I will follow up with some great interior shots.

I have supplied a few cabins that had log siding, but never a true full log system. The logs are red pine and really look great. I can’t wait to see this project complete.

I am supplying the lumber package, windows and doors on this project. Next time someone asks me if I have any experience with log homes I can can answer yes with confidence.
